March 20, 2002 Masbate Schools Division Superintendent Isagani A. Delavin accepted the first copy of the Masbatenyo Dictionary on behalf of the more than 600,000 people of Masbate province in the Central Philippines. With the assistance of Miriam V. Barlet, Felixberto V. Granado Jr., and many others, Dr. Elmer Wolfenden of SIL compiled this 6,000 entry, 736-page volume over a period of 30 years. It was compiled from texts gathered during Dr. Wolfenden's language research and was checked by mother tongue speakers. As well as the main body of the dictionary, it includes phonological and grammatical sketches of the language and an English index.
