New Aircraft debuts in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
SIL PNG unveiled the newest addition to its aviation fleet—the Kodiak aircraft—at a commissioning ceremony in Papua New Guinea. The vision for this new aircraft grew from the need to provide a larger, more cost-effective, turbo-prop airplane suitable for use in remote locations.
Endangered languages information and infrastructure
SIL linguist Gary Simons is chairing the working group on "Interoperation" and demonstrating two online language databases at ELIIP in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Ethnologue catalogues the world’s 6,909 known living languages. The Open Language Archives Community aims to make language data more widely available to researchers.
